The American Architectural Manufacturers Association and Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance have begun discussions about forming a single organization to represent the fenestration industry, both groups announced Monday.
The boards of directors of both groups began talks after an exploratory committee composed of AAMA and IGMA members recommended a merger. AAMA is located in Schaumburg, Ill., while IGMA has offices in Chicago and Ottawa.
"AAMA and IGMA are both strong associations with distinct strengths and influential members of the glass and fenestration industry," AAMA Board Chair Mike DeSoto said. "A combined organization can be even stronger by harnessing the synergies of the back-office and the intellectual knowledge of the associations."
The exploratory team will continue its work but now focus on how best to serve the needs of the current membership and develop a new organization that best serves the industry, the groups said.
Both associations are planning on holding a combined event in Victoria, Canada, in summer 2019. https://bit.ly/2JmXf7i
